Miller Walsh Opposes Bill to Increase Salaries

State Representative Helene Miller Walsh (R-Libertyville) voted against SB3531 when it was presented yesterday in the Illinois House of Representatives.

The bill would increase the pay for agency directors, assistant directors and their secretaries.

“I cannot vote for a salary increase, for anyone, until the Illinois legislature gets its fiscal house in order,” said Miller Walsh. “No one is entitled to a pay increase--let alone an automatic annual increase--when our office, internet and phone bills are not being paid in a timely fashion.”

The bill was debated on the last day of session for the 100th General Assembly and ultimately passed with 68 members voting in favor of the measure.
