State Representative Helene Miller Walsh hosted a senior fair this week with State Senator Dan McConchie. The fair brought together various state agencies, local businesses and health screenings to promote the health and wellness of seniors living in the community.

In addition to hearing testing, Walgreens Pharmacy was on site to administer free flu shots to attendees. Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs’ office was at the event to help residents learn about the iCash program and any unclaimed property in their names. Volunteer opportunities—like the 4H program through the University of Illinois Extension—were also advertised at the event, to motivate seniors to stay active in the community. Lake County Treasurer David Stolman was on hand to explain Property Tax bills, the Property Tax process and the tax distribution to illustrate where your tax dollars are allocated.

“So many people came together to make this event a success,” said Miller Walsh. “I enjoyed meeting local residents, and all the participating vendors that are driven to help seniors in our community lead healthy lives.”

This event was Miller Walsh’s first event serving as the State Representative of the 51st District. “This event was able to bring all the necessary, available resources right to our seniors—and I was happy to be able to help facilitate that,” said Miller Walsh.

The free event was open to the public, and drew a great group of area seniors to the Libertyville Sports Complex. Representative Miller Walsh hopes to continue hosting this opportunity for her District annually.
